In fact, that would be really cool if the next Bond film had lots of references to the President because he and Daniel are sort of the same, they have become media sensations. Obama's approval ratings are in the 40th percentile. Perhaps Craig's ratings are around that area as well I don't care about Craig's sexual orientation. I do care that he, Broccoli, and Wilson are collectively destroying a great film franchise.

I don't have a problem with gay actors in general, but I just don't think that one should play such an overtly heterosexual character as Bond, as it sort of takes away their credibility, because when I know an actor is gay I can't help but think during the love scenes "you're not really getting hot over that girl are you?". Whether this gossip is true or not, it's not good news for Craig, seeing as he's supposed to be engaged to a woman.

Welcome TWINE. I don't have a problem with gay actors in general, but I just don't think that one should play such an overtly heterosexual character as Bond, as it sort of takes away their credibility, because when I know an actor is gay I can't help but think during the love scenes "you're not really getting hot over that girl are you?". That's a good description of Bond, "an overtly heterosexual character." If this rumor is true, then it certainly calls into question a number of things about the "Bond Branding." Bond has always been associated with the Playboy image. Hence, the tie-in with the magazine and other male/macho product tie-ins. But if the actor playing Bond turns out to be gay, what will happen to that playboy-product facade? On the aspect of credibility in romantic scenes: I've got a gay co-worker who mentioned the same thing. In fact, he said that audiences simply won't buy the notion of a gay actor playing Bond. He argued that if people were so tolerant of gay actors, then Hollywood should be making more films with gay actors in leading roles. For example, instead of Robert Pattinson starring in Twilight, we'd see an openly gay actor playing that vampire role. I think this is the real scandal here, if true. It's not so much the revelation of the actor's sexual orientation, but this business about cheating on a woman he's engaged to (I read somewhere that Craig was engaged, and that the couple had bought a condo or something in Manhattan). Ironically, Craig's publicist denied the rumor that came out about a year ago when the actor allegedly said that he wouldn't mind playing a gay James Bond or something to that effect. For this new rumor, he and his publicists have been surprisingly quiet. Then again, maybe they're thinking is that it's not worth giving this rumor any dignity.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Since we have a lot of gays issues these days, we got Rupert Everett as one of the contenders replacing Pierce as Bond years back. If Everett stars in CR as the British superspy 5 years ago, this would cause tensions in the World of Bond, but I might be wrong.
