I wonder if Brosnan would have been a more popular Bond, and would have made some films in the early 90's? Or would the legal issues have stopped that? Simon McCorkindale would have been great.

Ian Fleming died reasonably young. How would he have influenced the world of James Bond if he had lived much longer?

I think he would have left Cubby to do his thing with the film series. He may have still written Bond novels into the seventies and eighties and these may have been used for the films. It would have been interesting to see if he did a John Gardner type updating of his James Bond.

Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

What if Dalton had played Alec Trevellian in GE ? He liked playing bad guy's in films like 'The Rocketeer' and 'Framed'. I'm sure he would have loved playing an 007 who had gone AWOL. Brosnan could have played 008 in GE before becoming 007 in TND. Sean Bean did a great job in GE but it would have been great to see Dalton & Brosnan sharing a screen together.

I suppose the main problem with that is that Dalton was called James Bond in the previous two films. Therefore Dalton would have to be called James Bond in GE. Brosnan would have had to have had a different name in GE and all future films. Brosnan could easily have his 00 status moved to 007 after Dalton dies but could never be called James Bond. Any name suggestions ?

That would be a radical idea (the "Codename idea"0, and may have been a "jumping the shark" moment for the Cubby Bond series Adam. But, if Dalton had not played Bond, then he would have been great as Alec 006.
But the other Alec 006, Sean Bean (not Alternative007's one (I'm confused now!)) was wonderful too!

In last decade, Anthony Hopkins was considered for the role of Alec.

It's not too late to get Sir Anthony to star in a Bond movie. After appointing an unknown as Bond in 2005 and having an unknown cast in CR & QOS it's about time a heavyweight gave the seris a boost. Or maybe people are worried a charismatic actor will have too much screen prescence.
