Favourite James Bond Films: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Mission: Impossible and any upcoming action films starring Pierce Brosnan (no, it's not James Bond which is good because he'll need it to expand his reputation as an actor, especially in the action realm)
Favourite Films: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Harry Potter, Middle-Earth, The Matrix, Mission: Impossible

Congratualtions on the promotion FBF. I thought the promotion stops at Commander. Hello, Congrats on your promotion, FormerBondFan! Blue looks very good on you! I always enjoy your posts...I love your honesty, and you totally echo my sentiments at how angry you are with the way Pierce was "kicked to the curb"! SHAME ON EON!!!!! From now on, I dub thee: Sir FormerBondFan Take Care!

It would have been interesting seeing Dalton and Brosnan in a Bond film together. People would have been pleased that Dalton got to make his third Bond movie & that Brosnan had finally been introduced into the Bond franchise. Dalton would have enjoyed playing a bad guy and probably would'nt have turned down Goldeneye. It could have been a passing of the batton from Dalton to Brosnan. Cubby would have acheived a coup in having both actors on board and it would have been easy to market the film.
There would have to be more development into why Dalton's 007 Bond had gone AWOL. The public would have wanted to know why their hero had turned nasty. Brosnan would simply be 006 in the film and not called James Bond. Alec Trevelian perhaps ? Mind you 'Trevelian is Back' for future films does'nt have quite the same ring. Maybe Jason Bourne ! Brosnan would become an 007 in future films.
Cubby never wanted the public to see a Craig like rookie Bond. Maybe he also never wanted the public to see a Bond whose gone off the rails.

It's a good idea - but it would make the following Bond films a bit confusing!!

If Connery had not been cast as James Bond, would the series have still been a big success?

Probably. Connery wasn't exactly a huge star at the time. He was almost unknown.

I think the series would have taken off even with a Roger Moore or Richard Johnson instead of Connery. The films ushered in a new type of cinema.

I think the series would have taken off regardless of an actor playing Bond.
